Lunch & Learn Program

Point Eight Power personnel are available to visit your company, or we invite you to come to our facility for a discussion on various aspects of switchgear and switchgear safety. The sessions are informational in nature and focused on helping the client understand more about the topic.

These sessions are an hour long and can accommodate up to 40 people. As the name implies, we typically schedule these around lunchtime so as to have minimal impact the workday. However, timing for the presentation is at the discretion of the client. Here is a sampling of some of the topics we present.

1. ANSI vs. IEC
– The session is focused on the difference between ANSI and IEC low and medium switchgear and motor controls, the enclosure ratings and general philosophy of each standard. In addition, the difference in ratings will be discussed.

2. Switchgear 101
– The session is focused on the different standards and manufacturing techniques used to build low- and medium-voltage switchgear for the ANSI/NEMA market. It also addresses ANSI and UL standards. This session is approved for one professional-development hour (PDH).

3. Electrical safety in the workplace
– The session is focused on the present OSHA requirements for electrical safety in the workplace and the guidelines of NFPA 70E to satisfy them. The session is primarily concentrated on shock and arc-flash hazards and on how to stay safe while working on energized equipment.

While these subjects are our standard prepared topics, our team would be more than willing to investigate addressing additional requests should the above list not be adequate.
