Leadership

No company can survive and prosper without outstanding leadership. Point Eight Power has that in the person of Brett Reagan, the 34-year-old son of Reagan Equipment founder, Tom Reagan.

Brett demonstrated his dedication and perseverance early with his athletic achievements. Before attending college at the University of Colorado, he was a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and a member of the U.S. cycling team. He represented the U.S. at the Junior World Championships in Moscow, won a national championship, established a U.S. record and raced overseas on various Pro/Am cycling teams in France and Denmark.

After an unsuccessful bid for the Olympic team in 1992, Brett entered the University of Colorado from which he was graduated with special honors with a degree in electrical engineering and a minor in physics. He then went to work for NEI-Electric Power Engineering, an electrical power consulting and design firm. In 2000, he returned to New Orleans to join the family business. He started as a design engineer with Point Eight Power. In 2001, he joined a Point Eight team in establishing and operating a joint venture in Saudi Arabia. After progressing from plant manager to general manager of the Saudi operation, he assumed the position of Power Eight operations manager in New Orleans and soon advanced to the position of the company's vice president and general manager.

Despite the time constraints of his job and being a husband and father, Brett continued to train and compete and today is a nationally ranked triathlete. He earned a spot on Team USA, which was competing in the 2005 Triathlon Amateur World Championships in Honolulu. But then Hurricane Katrina hit. Brett showed his commitment to Point Eight Power by dropping off the team to focus on getting the company back on its feet. His recovery work was chronicled in Leadership Excellence magazine's January 2006 issue.
